Eileen Laverty
With the release of her first recording, Eileen Laverty made a very impressive introduction to the music scene. She has performed across Canada and Ireland, from coffee houses to concert halls, and in a few short years has established herself as a reputable singer-songwriter on the international stage.

Early in 2004, Eileen was featured on a national television series highlighting Canadian folk music. Hosted by Connie Kaldor, @ Wood River Hall showcased some of Canada's finest folk and roots musicians, including Canadian icons Bruce Cockburn and Sylvia Tyson.

Internationally acclaimed singer Mary Black recorded Laverty's song, Wildest Dreams, and a few months later invited Eileen to support her tour of Ireland. The song was released Worldwide as the single for Black's Best of 1991-2001 cd.

Eileen has shared the stage with many accomplished performers over the past few years. She has supported several major acts, including Ian Tyson, Tom Cochrane, and Canadian tenor, John McDermott, who invited Eileen to join his Canadian Tours in 2001 and 2002.

Laverty's first recording effort, Dancing With Angels, won a Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Roots Recording and continues to draw praise at home and abroad. Her song, Tread Softly, is featured on the US release, Songs Inspired By Literature alongside tracks from David Bowie, Tom Waits, Rosanne Cash and Steve Earle, released in March 2003. Her music is featured on several compilation cds, television and radio programs.

Rooted in universal themes, Eileen's songs will leave you with a sense of hope. As one festival director remarked, "Her beautiful voice and passionate lyrics are a soulful mix..."

"Laverty's songwriting shows a great deal of depth, and she has a fine sense of melody... It's her pure, rich voice that is her calling card..." Dirty Linen Magazine (US)

Eileen is currently recording a new cd for release early in 2006.
